Description
Each of the six carols stands alone, and each harp part has the opportunity to play the melody on at least one of the carols. There are several lever or pedal changes in the harp parts, mostly concentrated in Coventry Carol. Bell-like passages, a miniature round, and gentle arpeggios feature in the arrangement.
The performance time for Six Old Carols, if played one after another, is about six and a half minutes. Time must be taken to change key between the last three pieces if performed on lever harps. The performance time for each carol alone is as follows: Ding Dong! Merrily on High, 1:10; Blessed Be That Maid Marie, 1:20; Oh Holy Child, 0:50; Shepherds at the Cradle, 1:00; The Bells of Paradise, 1:00; and The Coventry Carol, 1:10. INTERMEDIATE, ALL HARPS.
