The French carol “Il Est Ne” (“He Is Born”) is perfect for harp duo with its dance-like rhythm. Harp I and II can be played on lever or pedal harps. While Harp I carries the lively melody over chords, Harp II alternates between knocking on the soundboard and a contrasting descant line. The composition begins in C Major and then modulates to the key of G Major. In the G Major section, Harp II has harmonics and glissandos. The piece then modulates back to C Major and again the melody in Harp I is enhanced by Harp II knocking on the soundboard and glissandos.
