Description
An invention is a short composition that uses two lines of counterpoint to create music with both rhythmic and intervallic interest. The arranger takes six inventions from the catalog of Johann Sebastian Bach and presents them here for harp duet. A counterpoint line is assigned to each harpist and played doubled in octaves. The identical and intricate fingering (but very carefully numbered) in each hand makes these excellent teaching pieces (maybe teacher and student duets!) as well as short and sweet recital pieces. Included are two separate harp parts – no score. Each invention is 2-3 pages long for each harp. Pedals are clearly marked. PEDAL HARP, LATE INTERMEDIATE/EARLY ADVANCED.
Included inventions: #1 (C maj.), #4 (D min.), #5 (Eb maj.), #8 (F maj.), #13 (A min.), and #14 (Bb maj.)
