“For there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey.” In this trio, the simplicity of ‘trust and obey’ is heard in the first verse with the arpeggiated accompaniment and a simple half-note counter-melody. The second verse increases the musical complexity with its rolled chords and more involved counterpoint. Finally the third verse comes in with a strong introductory chorus which diminishes to a sprightly verse, bringing back the simplicity of the beginning. Be sure to feel the swell in dynamics at the end of each bridge passage. The final phrase of ‘Tis So Sweet can be played ‘a tempo’ or wistfully at the discretion of the director. Included are score, three separate parts, and performance notes.
