Description
Quiet Soul is a lovely original for harp and piano. Composer Stephanie Curcio indicates that the piece may be played on either lever or pedal harp, but would be most suitable on pedals It is written in 4 flats. There is one Gflat accidental which on lever harp is Fsharp.
I played this piece recently and found that the introduction is tricky and I changed some of the fingerings to suit my playing. The LH harmonics are pretty but can be a challenge. In the YouTube below, mm 39-41 I took out some LH notes and used my LH to help the RH. Had I given myself more than 3 days to learn the piece, I would have left those in. Same with m 55.
I think the pianist needs to be experienced in accompanying because of the intro, and because the key of Ab and a few ledger lines notes up in the heights.
All in all, a gratifying piece to play and so glad it is now in my repertoire. But I do need to practice a few measures to play them accurately!
