Description
Franz Schubert’s Ländler Dances have been arranged here by Shari Pack for two lever harps or for two pedal harps. There is only one lever or pedal change in Harp 1, none in Harp 2. It was also danced in “The Sound of Music.” Schubert’s Ländler Dances are delightful melodies that are fun to listen to and also to play. This arrangement takes about three and a half minutes to perform.
The landler is a partner folk dance in triple meter. Its popularity centered around Austria, Bavaria, German Switzerland, and Slovenia. This was at the end of the 18th century. It could be vocal or instrumental. Sometimes it features yodeling. It likely led to the development of the waltz. Along with Schubert, other noted composers such as Beethoven and Bruckner also wrote landlers.
