93525 $5.00 Coventry Carol, Trad. arr. Danielle Harmon for flute and harp
Mysterious and ethereal, this treatment of a traditional medley used at Christmas time is very unusual. It is meditational in nature, and if you work at it, you can pull the melody that you know out of it, but it is sort of hidden. It is a really cool arrangement and takes good musicians to perform, as the flute part is détaché and should be delicate yet at the same time emphatic. The harp part is full of rich low sustained chords that ring while playing harmonics, sometimes double, in the RH.
Because of the range of the LH harp chords, it is written for pedal harp. It could be adapted for lever harp, but if you’re sight-reading it, stick to pedal harp. I don’t recommend sight-reading this piece (at a Christmas gig), because to convey the spirit, it would be wise to practice a few times, and your audience will appreciate this.
