Description
This arrangement of the Overture from Messiah by Handel is rich and full in some sections, intricately contrapuntal in others. It is a wonderful and delightfully surprising addition or opener to a Christmas or Easter program. Harp 1 (pedal) carries the melody a good bit of the time and is fraught with dotted rhythms, rolled three-note chords, and trills. Harp 2 (pedal) has dotted rhythms, moving eighth notes, and one trill. The pedal changes are occasionally fast and challenging. Although the easiest of the three with longer holds, Harp 3 (large lever) still features some moving eighth notes and rolled three-note chords.
Both a full score and individual parts for each harp are included. The difficulty level is early to late intermediate with the pedal and lever changes displayed in the middle of the staves. Each harp part is 4-5 pages long.
