Description
The Christmas carols used in this publication have been arranged for melody instrument with harp accompaniment (lever or pedal). However, there is quite a bit of interplay between the two instruments and both instruments share the melody. So, this is more than just a melody plus accompaniment book.
A separate leaflet has been provided for the instrumental soloist. However, if preferred, they may read from the harp score as page turns have been planned accordingly. Guitar chords are included so that if the transcribed accompaniment sections do not suit the harper or harpist, a chordal accompaniment may be used instead.
The arrangements are presented in an order that facilitates lever changes between pieces so that the entire collection can be played from beginning to end as a “suite” of carols. However, individual selections may be extracted as desired.
Dynamic markings, fingerings, breath marks, and lever/pedal changes are provided throughout. Lever changes are indicated between the staves and pedal changes are shown beneath the bass staff.
The total harp range needed, as written, is 30 strings, range from C to D. However, if a few octave adjustments are made, the pieces can be played on a harp of only 27-strings, range from C to A.
