Description
Find a fellow harpist and get ready to have a literal “jam session” with these arrangements of three beloved spiritual tunes!
Jericho features a bouncy accompaniment under a syncopated melody line. The ending line “walls came tumblin’ down” is pictorially accentuated by the second harpist repeating each of the first’s high chords in a low register.
Deep River begins gently with chordal glisses out of which rises the melody in “unison” normal pitches and harmonics. For the next two choruses, flowing arpeggios, first in eighth notes, then in sixteenths, paint a peaceful river scene.
Brisk rolled chords grip the audience’s attention at the beginning of Little David Play on Your Harp. The melody is highly syncopated (with generous fingering written in), and creative contrapuntal adornments add depth to subsequent verses. A unique rhythmic accompaniment in quick thumb glisses brings the arrangement to an exciting close.
Included are the score and separate harp parts. Pedal changes are carefully marked. PEDAL HARPS, LATE INTERMEDIATE.
