Description
Angi’s latest book is a fantastic arrangement of tunes, and following in her past tradition, available both in the key of C and the key of Eb. The most special element of this book is that all the tunes are Angi’s arrangements of tunes, composed by contemporary harpists, that really spoke to her in some way. Composers include Frank Voltz, Susan Raimond, Kim Robertson, Barbara Semmann, Harper Tasche, Rhett Barnwell, and more! There is information about each composer in the back of the book, and how you can acquire their recordings, etc. This collection of 24 pieces is very playable and falls under the fingers nicely. While the tunes range from lower intermediate to intermediate difficulty, Angi has added the chord symbols in each piece allowing for easy embellishment for the more advanced harpers, and also performance suggestions. The only song with lever changes at all is Janice Glover’s “There Once Was a Sad Tale,” set at the beginning & reset at the end.
From the arranger: Why are my arrangements published in the keys of C and Eb? Generally, lever harps are tuned in either the key of C or Eb. In order to play in another key (G, for example), you flip levers in each octave. This works well, but 1) it requires making lever flips between songs, and 2) it changes the sound of the strings just a bit. By having the songs in one key signature, you can transition smoothly from one song to another, and it retains the sound clarity of open strings. Plus, you don’t have to worry about flipping the wrong levers!
