Description
This book is designed with the beginning harp student in mind who has never played an
instrument, and who needs to learn from the very start how to read notes. Since many
“newbies” are renting a small harp, or have purchased a small harp to start, the notes in
this first book will only go down to the lowest string on a 26 string harp. The pace is
comfortable and new notes are presented two at a time. If you have never read music
before, you’ll be able to keep up just fine! If you are like many others, who had a few
years of piano “many years ago” and just need a refresher, this book can help you cover
things you may have forgotten. Or if you only learned only one clef playing a band or
orchestra instrument, here’s your opportunity to learn the other clef! The Lesson Book,
Level 1 will cover notes from middle C down an octave to the next C in the bass clef and
from middle C up to the next C in the treble clef. Along with the notes, you’ll learn about
note values, time signatures, intervals, and chords. 36 pages. ($15.00)
This series can be used for very young students, providing the teacher reads the text to them or explains in his/her own words the ideas, all the way through adult beginners. Since each student is unique, supplementing this lesson book with the other two to reinforce the concepts presented can be very helpful. The Tune Book gives more practice to foundation material presented, and the Activity Book helps build muscle memory, ear development, and a better understanding of music notation.
