Description
Twenty Arrangements of Traditional Tunes of Early America For Flute or Violin and All Harps
Because these are folk tunes, there are many different versions of the melodies found on recordings and in live performances. But the basic “contour” of the melody is similar among them. Many of the folk tunes were brought over from the British Isles and later became part of the American folk repertoire.
These tunes have been placed in progressive key order to create a satisfying “American Folk Song Suite” that facilitates lever/pedal changes and alternates tempo, meter, and/or mood. All tunes were typeset to fit exactly on two facing pages to eliminate any page turns within a piece. There are no lever or pedal changes within each piece, primarily because open fifth harmonies were used on some of the chords. Guitar chords are included so that the melody may be played by any C instrument, accompanied by chords on harp, lute, guitar, or keyboard. Comes with score and separate flute/violin part.
