Description
These songs utilize a variety of pentatonic or five-note scales. In these arrangements special harp
effects are utilized to imitate the sounds of Japanese plucked instruments such as the koto, shamisen
and biwa. Près de la table (p.d.l.t.) indicates plucking near the soundboard. A downward facing crescent
moon shape denotes plucking the string with the fingernails close to the finger board. The crescent
shape accompanied by glissando marking indicates playing the glissando with the backs of the
fingernails of 2nd, 3rd and 4th fingers to create a fluttering sound.
