Description
24 tunes by the renowned Irish harper, Turlough O’Carolan, all carefully and exactlingly transcribed from guitar settings arranged by guitarist Guido Boeger. The arrangements are contrapuntal, dance-like and Baroque sounding.
The editing and the fingerings for Celtic Harp (done by Mary Fitzgerald) are excellent. These are not easy pieces to sight read, as they are not extremely harpistic. They are, though, very enjoyable once you have them under your fingers. Because of the editing, these are much more approachable.
If you’re interested in playing unusual settings of the music of O’Carolan in a light and Baroque style with a busy left hand, this is the book for you! There is no question left on fingerings to use, and once you master those patterns, you’ll have some unique repertoire to add to your collection. UPPER INTERMEDIATE, ALL HARPS.
