Description
From Evelyn: This arrangement came about when I was asked to provide background music with violin or flute, cello, and pedal harp for a gala grand opening of the beautiful new veterinary educational complex at a Texas A&M university in which I worked. The flute was played by Penny Zent principal flutist of the Symphony of the Brazos Valley Symphony since 1984 and internationally known touring flutist. The cello was played by David Moreno (assistant principal cellist of the the Brazos Valley Symphony). “O mio babbino caro [Oh, my dear daddy]”is a luscious soprano aria from Giacomo Puccini’s one act opera, Gianni Schicchi, which Puccini (Italy, 1858-1924) composed in 1917-18. I have transposed the music from its original key of A-flat Major to D Major. The flute plays the vocal line; the cello and harp parts are from Puccini’s score. I was rusty on the pedal harp and therefore developed a play list that was rapidly achievable.
