A French import from a collection called “The Soloists’ Library” or “Li Bibliotheque des Solistes”. It contains music for Celtic harp by the very prominent French harpist and composer Annie Challan. This collection includes three pieces for lever harp: Laura, Cascatelle and Promenade A Marly. The keys of the pieces are G, A minor and C. Upper Intermediate.
Annie Challan was born in Toulouse and began her study of the piano at the age of 4. At nine, she entered the Paris Conservatoire studying music theory. The same year, she began to study the harp with Lily Laskine. At 15 she won the first prize for harp of the Paris Conservertoire, and at 16 she was named harp soloist of Concerts Colonne, where she stayed for 10 years. At 18 she joined the orchestra of the Paris Opera, through competiton (coming in as the youngest member). In 1971 she became harp teacher at the National Regional conservatory of Versailles. Since 1976 she has been director of the conservatory of Marly-le-Roi. She takes part in innumerable tours as soloist and in ensemble.
