Description
A beautiful piece for pedal harp, this suite with six movements is for the advanced pedal harpist. The suite starts with a peppy first movement, Into Mischief, full of technical goodness, from arpeggiated chords to glissandos and harmonics. The second movement, Little Angel, is a short yet beautiful tune with harmonics, full chords, and alternating action to keep both hands busy throughout. The rambunctious third movement, Giddap Pony, uses a relatively simple rhythmic pattern in the left hand to imprint in your mind the rhythm of moving horses, complete with triplet patterns, harmonics, and glissandos. Flowing straight from the third movement, the fourth movement, Playing in the Garden, slows things down a little bit. With simple rhythmic patterns, full chords, arpeggios, and glissandos this piece starts with the impression of a more relaxed movement but gradually works up to an energetic allegro ending. Parade, the fifth movement, also begins with simple patterns, then incorporates some glissandos and arpeggios, and finishes with full chords to prepare you for the final movement, The Sandman. This movement lives up to its title with a slow-moving melody and a soft, tranquil finish. ADVANCED, PEDAL HARP.
