Description
Masters in this Hall by Marin Marais (1656-1728) has been arranged by Stephen Dunstone for 4-part harp ensemble. There are a number of very well marked lever changes (C# to Cnatural and back). The piece could be played one handedly most of the time, using the other hand to change the levers. Harp 1, at the end, might need both hands to play the very cool ending. I’m calling it intermediate because of the rhythm in harp 2, occasionally off-beat, and because of the lever changes. There is an alternative given to avoid the lever change which if played, creates a harmony so that if one person in the group wants to use that ossia it will still sound well. The countermelodies and harmonies (also very cool) will require solid players to keep together.
