Description
The Treble Harpist book by Ray Pool is an introduction to music on the harp using the treble clef only. Intended for the adult beginner who has come to the study of music for the first time, or those with previous musical experience on another instrument and can read the notes of the treble clef. Suitable for harps of any size, especially smaller lever harps (“lap harps”). Stresses proper hand position and effective practice technique which strengthens pitch and rhythm identification. Each of the five sections offers graduated examples of note reading, rhythm exercises, technique, and repertoire. There are fifty arrangements taken from American folk songs, American vintage tunes, Christian hymns and holiday songs, Jewish hymns and holiday songs, and compositions by Stephen Foster. The range of notes begins with only those on the lines and spaces of the treble clef and expands to the F below middle C (3 ledger lines below the staff) to the “soprano high C” two ledger lines above the staff. The key signatures of the arrangements include C Major / A minor (no sharps or flats) and G Major / E minor (F# only). No lever or pedal changes. All arrangements are fully edited with careful attention given to fingering patterns.
