Description
The Dragon Heart model was the premier solid wood harp by Dave Woodworth of Heartland Harps back in 2006 when this harp was built. A full range instrument with the added B and A bass strings, it featured a spruce sound board, edge binding, full Truitt Levers and custom hand painted designs under a high gloss finish.
This harp has an Ivy motif on the soundboard custom painted by Pamela Bruner that seems to “grow” beyond the sides and column – quite lovely! Full and resonate tone on it’s own, there is also a Fishman Pickup installed for amplification in those larger venues.
Originally purchased as a substitute for the pedal harp played through high school, the idea was a smaller harp for the limited dorm room space as college life began. That dorm room ended up smaller than anticipated – and the rigors of college studies left little time for harp! Thus, the new harp got delegated to mom and dad’s home. After graduation, a new career started – and the harp remained at mom and dads and has been there since. Basically the harp is still new.
Brought to Melody’s for consignment, the only issue was the strings – they were the originals. Harp tech John just finished a complete string change and now the harp is ready for a new home!
The package includes a fully enclosed padded case, electronic tuner with clip and a matching walnut adjustable bench.
Price $2800
When we receive a harp in on consignment, I like to learn its history and share any tidbits for the future owner. Since this model harp is no longer produced, I did a bit of searching and hit pay dirt with the attached YouTube. Pamela Bruner and Dave Woodworth have been friends for decades and it was very enjoyable to “go down memory lane” watching as Pamela discusses the Dragon Heart model. It was her instrument of choice at that point in time and she reviews the instrument beautifully. Enjoy!
