Description
Pachelbel’s Canon in D has been arranged specifically for 22-string lap harp with a range from g to g. Several accommodations for the limited range of this harp have been made, including some octave displacement and transposing the tonality of the piece from D to C major. There is a lever change marked by a diamond shaped note from Bb to B natural and back to Bb in three instances. Rehearsal markings have been placed every eight bars to assist the harpist in adapting the length of the piece for playing in wedding ceremonies or at bedside. The piece is 53 bars long, not including repeats and takes about 5 – 6 minutes at a moderate tempo. Enjoyable to play and works remarkably well on the small harp.
