Description
INTERMEDIATE TO ADVANCED ALL HARPS TRIO
At the Ballet is a medley of three popular scenes from the ballet repertoire (“Pas de deux” from The Nutcracker, “Dance of the Hours” from La Gioconda, and Act II, Scene 10 from Swan Lake), arranged for 3 harps by Diane Michaels. Harp 1 can be played on lever or pedal harp, but after looking at it, we would prefer playing it on a pedal harp due to the amount of lever changes. There also are low triads and other chords constructed according to the orchestral score which might be more easily played on pedal harp. (because lever harp might ring too much.) Harp 3 is suitable for either lever or pedal harp and is the easiest of the three parts., Harp 2 follows, for the most part, the original pedal harp score. This would be a very good piece to learn if you are planning on auditioning for a ballet orchestra, because you would get a good amount of practice playing all the exposed and difficult arpeggiated passages that are required in some auditions.
